Meet Andrea: Your Colour & Design Guide in the Okanagan

Where colour confidence meets intentional design—helping you create spaces that truly feel like home.

Hi There! I’m So Glad You’re Here

I’m Andrea—and I’m absolutely thrilled you’ve found your way here!

If you’ve ever stood in the paint aisle feeling completely paralyzed by swatches, or walked into a roomin your home and thought “something just feels off, but I can’t figure out what”—you’re in exactly the right place.

I’m a colour consultant and intentional design guide based right here in beautiful Vernon, BC. I help homeowners and small business owners move beyond the overwhelm of endless choices and into spaces that feel cohesive, confident, and wonderfully them.

My work is rooted in colour expertise, intentional design principles, and something I call home energetics—the understanding that our spaces deeply affect how we feel, think, and live. Because here’s the thing: colour isn’t just something you see. It’s something you live inside.

My Journey to Colour & Design

(It Wasn’t a Straight Line!)

Like so many of the best things in life, my path to becoming a colour consultant was anything but planned—and honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Corporate Chapter

I spent years working as a Business Analyst in a corporate environment. It was stable, it was logical, and it was... well, creatively suffocating. I craved colour, beauty, and the chance to make spaces feel something. But corporate spreadsheets don’t exactly leave room for that kind of magic.

The Big Leap

When I left the corporate world to be home with my children, everything shifted. We made the move from Vancouver to the Okanagan, and suddenly I had space—literally and figuratively—to reimagine what my life could look like.

The Benjamin Moore Years

That reimagining led me to purchase the local Benjamin Moore store here in Vernon. And let me tell you—those were some of the most colourful, fulfilling years of my career! Over thousands of hours (yes, literally thousands!), I helped homeowners just like you navigate the overwhelming world of paint colours, undertones, and design decisions.

I fell in love with the people side of colour consulting. The moment someone’s face lights up when they finally find “the one”? Pure magic.

Where I Am Now

But here’s what I realized: I wanted more. More time in people’s actual homes. More opportunity to dive into the creative guts of their projects. More space to do the intentional, holistic work that makes the biggest difference. So I made another leap—this time, into Andrea Nicole Design.

Now I work directly with homeowners and businesses throughout the North and Central Okanagan, bringing my Benjamin Moore expertise, professional training, and whole-hearted love of colour right to your door.

“Our surroundings are never neutral. They’re either working for us—or quietly working against us.”

Why I Do This Work

Can I share something real with you?

Much of why I’m so passionate about this work comes from my own story. Growing up, I experienced my fair share of chaos—the kind that really puts a spotlight on how much our physical spaces shape our inner world.

I noticed early on how certain rooms could make you feel instantly calm, while others seemed to quietly agitate your nervous system. How colour could settle you—or subtly set you on edge without you even realizing why. How some homes just wrapped you in warmth, while others felt cold no matter how high you turned up the heat.

Those childhood experiences gave me a gift: an acute awareness of how spaces affect us. And now, I get to use that awareness to help others.

I see so many homeowners decorating from impulse or overwhelm rather than intention. Choosing colours because they’re “safe” or “on trend” rather than because they genuinely resonate. And then wondering why their space never quite feels like home.

My mission? To help you move beyond guesswork and into spaces that feel cohesive, confident, and truly supportive of who you are and where you’re headed. Because you deserve a home that works for you. A space that calms your nervous system, sparks joy, and reflects your beautiful, unique life.

Training & Credentials You Can Trust

  • Thousands of Hours of Real-World Colour Consulting

As the former owner of the local Benjamin Moore store in Vernon, I spent years—and literally thousands of hours—helping homeowners navigate colour decisions. This wasn’t textbook learning.

This was hands-on, real-world experience solving real colour challenges every single day.

  • Maria Killam Trained Colour Expert

I completed the renowned Colour Expert Training with Maria Killam, North America’s leading colour consultant educator. This comprehensive program deepened my understanding of undertones, colour flow, and the science behind why certain colours work beautifully together while others clash.

  • Feng Shui Certification (Red Ribbon)

I’m currently completing my Red Ribbon Certification in Feng Shui, adding an entirely new dimension to my design practice. This training allows me to incorporate home energetics—the intentional arrangement and design of spaces to support your wellbeing, balance, and flow.

  • Continuous Professional Development

Design never stands still, and neither do I! I’m constantly expanding my knowledge through courses, workshops, and staying connected with the design community.

My goal? To bring you the most current, effective, and thoughtful guidance possible.

My Approach: Design Before Decor, Feeling Before Finish

  • Before we talk paint chips, I want to know: How do you want your space to feel? Calm and grounded? Energized and inspiring? Warm and welcoming? Your answers shape everything that follows.

Because beautiful design starts with intention, not impulse.

  • Paint store advice focuses on products—and that’s valuable! But I focus on your entire space: the lighting, the flooring, the fixed elements, the architecture, the furnishings, the flow from room to room.

My goal is creating whole-home cohesion, not just pretty individual rooms.

  • I combine expert colour theory with principles of Feng Shui and home energetics. This means your space won’t just look harmonious—it’ll actually support your wellbeing, productivity, and peace. Colour affects your energy. Let’s make sure it’s working for you.

  • You won’t leave our work together feeling like you got my style. You’ll feel like you finally found yours.

My job isn’t to tell you what to choose—it’s to guide you with expertise and clarity until your final selections feel completely, authentically your own.

  • I pay attention to trends (they’re fun!), but I don’t design by them. Spaces should outlast trend cycles. I focus on harmony, longevity, and what genuinely resonates with you—so you’ll love your colours for years to come.

Why Clients Choose to Work with Me

I’m Not an Interior Designer—and That’s a Good Thing

Interior designers are wonderful—but they often don’t offer just colour consulting or smaller-scale design services. If you don’t need a full renovation but want expert guidance on colour, cohesion, and creating spaces that feel amazing? That’s exactly what I do.

Work with What You Have

You don’t need to start from scratch. I love integrating existing furniture, art, flooring, and finishes into a cohesive plan. Often, small intentional shifts make the biggest difference—without breaking the bank.

I Make the Overwhelming Feel Manageable

Feeling completely overwhelmed with no idea what you like? Perfect. That’s actually the best place to start! My process helps you uncover what you’re naturally drawn to and translates that into a clear, grounded plan. No more decision paralysis.

Exterior Expertise Included

Your home’s exterior is the first impression—and I take it just as seriously as the interior. I consider your roof, stone, landscaping, neighbouring homes, and overall curb appeal to create something timeless and beautifully cohesive.

The Investment That Pays for Itself

One wrong paint job costs more than a consultation. But more importantly? Living in a space that feels “off” affects your mood, productivity, and confidence every single day. Thoughtful colour is an investment in how you live.
